Alaska Pride Conference & Youth Summit 2012: October 5-7 in Anchorage
Alaska Pride Conference 2012 will be held October 5-7 in Anchorage at the Millennium Alaskan Hotel. The second annual Alaska statewide GLBT Youth Summit (Alaska youth 13-18) focusing on youth issues in Alaska is being held in conjunction with the Pride Conference at St. John United Methodist Church & at the Millennium Alaska Hotel.
Mya Dale, 1990–2012
We lost one of our beautiful young ones two days ago. Mya Dale died Wednesday morning, June 20. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, classmates, and all she touched in our community.

Alaska Pride Fest 2012 kicks off Thursday, May 31
Anchorage’s Alaska Pride Fest is earlier than usual this year — in fact, it starts next week! .The official kickoff is this coming Thursday at the Millenium Alaskan Hotel, also a fundraiser for Alaska Pride. Check out Bent Alaska’s events calendar for all the Pride events and details.

Pride Foundation and Identity announce the James Crump Scholarship Fund
In honor of James L. Crump, who died in a tragic accident at the Anchorage Pride parade on June 25, 2011, Pride Foundation and Identity, Inc. have announced the James Crump Scholarship Fund. The fund, initiated by an anonymous donor, will benefit GLBT and straight ally students planning to pursue a career in nursing, medicine, social work, teaching or another helping profession and who plan to make an impact in the state of Alaska.

The time comes when Bent Alaska must move forward bearing our sadness over James Crump’s death on June 25 and getting back to our core business of sharing information and serving as an information hub for Alaska’s LGBTA communities.
