Pride 2012: Celebrating Diversity Parade & Alaska Pride Fest — Saturday, June 9
The biggest events of Alaska Pride Week in Anchorage: the annual Pride parade and Pride festival at Delaney Park — will be held on Saturday, June 9. Here’s all the info, plus a preview of Saturday evening and Sunday Pride Week events including Kristara, Sunday’s Pride Ecumenical service, and the Pride wind-up BBQ.
Bully screens at the Bear Tooth, June 8–14
Bully (film)Bully examines the dire consequences of bullying through the stories of five students who face bullying on a daily basis. It will be shown at the Bear Tooth in Anchorage from Friday, June 8 through Thursday, June 14 (except Monday).

Friday, June 8: An open mike/karaoke for youth and young adults at the Downtown Transit Center’s POWER Clinic; Bully screens at the Bear Tooth tonight through June 14 (& perhaps later); and a special Pride edition of Mad Myrna’s Friday Night Divas show.
Pride 2012, Thursday, June 7: Revenge of the Drag Queens, with cupcakes (& monsters!) for dessert
Thursday, June 7: This evening’s going to be a real drag — Drag Queen Bingo, that is, the annual Four A’s fundraiser for AMP, followed by Cupcakes & Monsters karaoke at Mad Myrna’s, a fundraiser for Alaska Pride.
On These Shoulders We Stand: Early gay life and activism in L.A. — June 5–6 in Anchorage
Not everything began with Stonewall. On These Shoulders We Stand is an illuminating historical account of early gay life and activism in Los Angeles told by the people who lived it. For those of us who supported Prop 5, this film provides perspective and inspiration. The film will be followed by a conversation with the filmmaker, Glenne McElhinney, and local activists. Three showings during Pride Week in Anchorage on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 5–6.

Drink Lemonade 4 LOVE in Anchorage, Wasilla, or Fairbanks, remember those who came before us, visit Identity’s booth at Anchorage’s Downtown Market, enjoy Gay Day at the Alaska Zoo, and finish it off with the glamor and fabulousness of ICOAA’s annual MGA Pageant at Mad Myrna’s!

Alaska Pride Fest 2012 kicks off Thursday, May 31
Anchorage’s Alaska Pride Fest is earlier than usual this year — in fact, it starts next week! .The official kickoff is this coming Thursday at the Millenium Alaskan Hotel, also a fundraiser for Alaska Pride. Check out Bent Alaska’s events calendar for all the Pride events and details.
