Alaska Pride Week in Anchorage begins on May 31 this year, and is just a little bit longer than a week to accommodate all the great events. Ex-gay survivor Jason Ingram returns to Alaska to tell his story (includes interview)
Jason Ingram was a young adult Christian in Anchorage when he sought help in dealing with his same-sex attractions through Christian recovery groups and “ex-gay” ministries. He returns to Anchorage to tell his story on Friday, June 1 at Out North. Includes interview. An Alaska Pride Fest 2012 event.
Alaska Pride Fest 2012 kicks off Thursday, May 31
Anchorage’s Alaska Pride Fest is earlier than usual this year — in fact, it starts next week! .The official kickoff is this coming Thursday at the Millenium Alaskan Hotel, also a fundraiser for Alaska Pride. Check out Bent Alaska’s events calendar for all the Pride events and details.
Two ICOAA events: Annual Memorial Day picnic on Monday, and MGA pageant coming up on June 2
It’s Memorial Day Weekend, which means it’s time for the Imperial Court’s annual Memorial Day picnic at Kincaid Park on Monday, May 28. That’s also the application deadline for candidates for Mr./Miss/Ms./Mister Gay Alaska, for the annual MGA pageant to be held Saturday, June 2.

Anchorage election: 10-voter Recount Group to prepare findings on recount problems, many which have been ignored
The Anchorage hand recount is done — or at least as done as the Municipality is willing to do it, despite its failure to conduct the recount according to the rule of law. Tonight the Anchorage Assembly will vote on recertifying the April 3 election. The 10-voter group which requested the recount plans to issue a report of its findings on numerous errors made during the election and the hand recount.
Anchorage election hand recount leads to flipped race in one precinct, other anomalies
The initial hand recount of 15 precincts from Anchorage’s April election was completed on May 14, but some races will be recounted for “clarification” — but recount observers note additional discrepancies, lack of training for recount workers, and the Municipality of Anchorage’s continuing failure to observe the rule of law in conducing the recount.

Trevor Storrs will be the Grand Marshal for Anchorage’s 2012 Celebrating Diversity Parade, Alaska Pride Fest announced Saturday. The Celebrating Diversity Parade, to be held on Saturday, June 9, is part of Alaska Pride Fest 2012.
