Brandi CarlileBrandi Carlile returns to Alaska this week, with shows at the PAC in Anchorage on Wednesday, July 18, and at Hering Auditorium in Fairbanks on Thursday, July 19. The concerts are part of her Bear Creek Summer Revue Tour, coinciding with the release of her latest studio album, Bear Creek, just last month. Also last month she announced her engagement to Catherine Shepherd. Congratulations! Catherine also recently became executive director of Brandi’s charity, The Looking Out Foundation.

Bear Creek (album) by Brandi CarlileBrandi Carlile previously came to Alaska in 2010 — see our article — and 2011.  Her music has been categorized in several genres, including pop, rock, alternative country, indie and folk. Before signing to a major record label, Carlile performed in local Seattle establishments with twin brothers Tim and Phil. Carlile sold her self-released recordings during local performances. Carlile began to attract the attention of the music industry after Dave Matthews heard her band perform at the 2003 Sasquatch! Music Festival. Whether she is rocking out with her full band or standing quietly, tantalizingly close to the edge of the stage singing a capella, Carlile brings a riveting intensity to her shows. Her other albums include Brandi Carlile (2006), The Story (2007), Give Up the Ghost (2009), and Live at Benaroya Hall (2011).

Brandi donates $1 from every concert ticket sold to the Looking Out Foundation.
