The Hot Mess, a burlesque Fairbanks fundraiser for Angry, Young & Poor — Saturday, June 23

Submitted by on Friday, 22 June 2012 – 10:00 AMNo Comment

The Hot MessThe Hot Mess: a burlesque open mic on Saturday, June 23 at the Marlin to raise money for the Angry, Young & Poor music festival. Bring any sort of performance art: dance, comedy, non-nude strip, song, anything! Featuring the David Leslie Dancers and hosted by the infamous Fleurs du Mal Burlesque.

Burlesque: a literary or dramatic work that seeks to ridicule by means of grotesque exaggeration or comic imitation. It’ll be funny.

Proceeds go to help put on Angry, Young & Poor: Fairbanks’ free, summer festival put together once a year, at the beautiful Ester Community Park, entirely by community volunteers. AYP aims at helping local youth find community support & networks while listening to awesome music. And yes, it’s an LGBTQ-welcoming event. Put it on your calendar: July 14, 2012!

  • Date/time: Saturday, June 23, 9:00 PM to midnight
  • Location: The Marlin, 3412 College Road, Fairbanks, AK 99709 (see map)
  • Further info: see Facebook events page.
