Pride 2012, Tuesday, June 5: Fun run, Flattop hike, H2Oasis, and LGBT history
Tuesday, June 5: It’s an athletic Pride Week evening, with a fun run (or walk) at Westchester Lagoon with Anchorage Frontrunners, a Pride hike to Flattop with Arctic Foxes Rugby Club, or a wet slide to pride with the Imperial Court at H2Oasis. Or, head over to UAA to learn about LGBT history with a screening of “On These Shoulders We Stand.”
Update 6/5/12: the ICOAA event at H2Oasis has been postponed due to a scheduling conflict. All other events are a go.
Anchorage Front Runners 2nd Annual Pride Fun Run (or walk) at Westchester Lagoon
The run/walk will start at Westchester Lagoon (6:00–7:00 PM) and will follow up with a BBQ (7:00–9:00 PM) at Timmie’s (walking distance from the running location). Anchorage Front Runners is a group that promotes health and wellness within the LGBTQA community, meeting weekly on Tuesday nights at 6:00 PM for fun runs/walks for GLBTs and friendlies along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. The Tuesday Night Pride Fun Run/Walk encourages folks of this circle to come together.

Arctic Foxes Women’s Rugby Club Hike — Glen Alps to Flattop
Join Arctic Foxes Rugby Club on a great hike to Flattop with a rainbow flag to claim the mountain for Pride! Arctic Foxes Rugby Club is a member of Alaska Oosik Rugby Union and specializes in bringing you the highest quality in rugby and lite beer.

On These Shoulders We Stand: LGBT civil rights documentary at UAA Rasmussen Hall
On These Shoulders We Stand is a documentary about LGBT civil rights history on the west coast — before Stonewall. It chronicles the lives of eleven elders, from their early years to their coming out, to their groundbreaking activism for the rights of all LGBT people. The film will be followed by a conversation with the filmmaker, Glenne McElhinney, and local activists. UAA’s The Family, sponsor of this presentation of On These Shoulders We Stand, will meet after the film event to finish their “Tie-Dye for Pride” shirts.
