Glitterboots will save your life, in Mad Myrna’s rousing & campy production of Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens, playing every weekend through May in Anchorage. Directed by Mad Myrna’s own RJ Haywood!

Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens is an interactive, high-energy musical set in a seedy, futuristic cabaret bar on the planet Frottage III. All is not well at Saucy Jack’s: danger lurks in every corner as the cabaret acts are being picked off one by one by the relentless Slingback Killer — and only the Space Vixens can solve the crime!

This campy SciFi spoof has been winning over audiences since its creation in 1995 at the Edinburgh Festival, and has been performed before ecstatic audiences in all manner of venues from West End theatres to Victorian railway arches; tiny back-street bars to giant big-tops. Wherever it has played, it has consistently delighted people with its explosive energy and its unique relationship with the audience.

A history of the show explains:

Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens was created in 1995 for the Edinburgh Festival in an attempt to produce a piece of theatre that would appeal to people who might feel more at home in bars and clubs than theatres. Its frenzied involvement of the audience and its raunchy electronic score made it an instant success with sold-out audiences invading the stage nightly and refusing to leave the theatre. Enthralled reviews and crazy plastic-clad fans quickly led to a Fringe First award for ‘innovation in theatre and outstanding new production’.

The Anchorage production is directed by Mad Myrna’s own RJ Haywood.  The show had a preview performance on May 3 benefit Out North, and continues Thursdays through Saturdays through May 26.

Runs approximately 1 hour 30 minutes including intermission.
