Iceberg at Calafate, Patagonia, 16 Apr 2008

Untitled 12/2/12

by Marcie Winter

The butterflies flutter
As my breathing stops
And I exhale plastic and ice
The berg that sank the Titanic
Years of pressure unleashed
But I remain frozen in time
Stuck in the iceage of life
In-between two genders
Scylla and Charybdis
Such a fitting term
For where I am
And I wonder if the
Time may come again
When I can inhale

About the poet

After struggling for many years with her self, Marcie Winter finally accepted her full feminine self in the middle of 2011. She currently works far too much at Kaladi Brothers (mornings) and Sagaya Corporation (evenings). She can sometimes be found at Beluga Point writing very bad poetry, and also at Bernie’s Bungalow writing slightly better poetry while sipping a coke.
