RAW seeks submissions for 2012 Nicole Blizzard Short Story Contest
Every year, Radical Arts for Women (RAW) sponsors the Nicole Blizzard Short Story Contest open to all women living in Alaska. This year’s submission deadline is April 1, 2012. Winners will be announced at at Celebration of Change on April 21, 2012.
Montana senator and MHRN equality activist to speak in Juneau tonight
Montana Senator Christine Kaufmann, one of three LGBT members of the Montana legislature and cofounder of the Montana Human Rights Network (MHRN), and Jamee Greer, an organizer and lobbyist with MHRN will speak tonight on “The Next Twenty Years: Achieving Equality for All Alaskans” at a reception and community event at the Hangar in Juneau.

Minnery misrepresents One Anchorage fundraising
Nearly 1,100 Alaskans — about 75% of contributors — have so far donated to One Anchorage, a March 7 press release announced. But it didn’t take long for anti-LGBT leader Jim Minnery to claim that “Outside Gay Rights Funds Bankroll Prop. 5 Supporters,” completely ignoring One Anchorage’s numerous in-state contributors.

Brawl of the Wild 3: Rage City Rollergirls vs. Fairbanks Rollergirls at Dena’ina Center
It’s not just Fur Rondy, it’s also Roller Derby Rondy — as Anchorage’s Rage City Rollergirls All Stars take on the visiting Fairbanks Rollergirls All Stars in Brawl of the Wild 3. The action takes place March 3 at the Dena’ina Center in downtown Anchorage. A portion of ticket sales will benefit Girl Scouts of Alaska.
