What better way to warm up a new month with a First Friday amid hot chocolate, espresso, and the work of local artists? Anchorage artisan chocolatier Modern Dwellers is giving us two First Fridays on February 3, with Lara Cleary’s “Anatomy of a Feeling” downtown and Meg Goodman’s “Heart Shaped Box” midtown. Both shows will be on display through the month of February if you’re unable to attend the First Friday festivities.

Meg Goodman: “Heart Shaped Box”

Anchorage artist Meg Goodman describes her “Heart Shaped Box”as “original acrylic works utilizing the reclaimed and repurposed.”  She’ll be at Modern Dwellers midtown location — her first gallery show. The opening reception will feature live music by In the Belfry, an Anchorage-based gypsy-klezmer-art-rock trio.

Lara Cleary: Anatomy of a Feeling

At Modern Dwellers’ downtown location on G Street, artist Lara Cleary will be presenting her First Friday show “Anatomy of Feeling” in company with Rebekah Lührs, who will be performing original music.

Modern Dwellers Chocolate Lounge is Anchorage Alaska’s only chocolate lounge — a chocolate and espresso experience amidst contemporary works of art and gifts. Both stores featuring Modern Dwellers’ own in-studio produced artisan truffles and chocolate bars, rich drinking chocolate, and a full espresso bar.
