Coronation is coming up! — and Bent will soon have the full Coronation schedule of events up on its calendar.  But before you can have coronation, you’ve got to have new heads of state to crown!  Here are the details on where and when to vote.

Vote for the Emperor and Empress of the Imperial Court of All Alaska (ICOAA) on Saturday, August 20 — tomorrow!

The new Emperor and Empress will be crowned at “Coronation XXXIX: Once Upon an Alaskan Mattress” at the Anchorage Marriott Hotel on Sunday, September 4.

The Imperial Court of All Alaska (ICOAA) has been in existence as an Anchorage nonprofit organization since 1971 (under the current and previous names). Over the decades, ICOAA has raised over a million dollars through participation at fundraising events, benefits, titleholder Balls and functions.. Funds raised are used for scholarships or turned back to gay, lesbian or community-wide nonprofit groups for their use. In recent years the annual Anchorage Pride Parade has been the recipient of significant financial support from the ICOAA.

The ICOAA is held in great esteem by the greater Anchorage and Alaska communities. Leadership is diversified to include men, women and transgendered persons. Or, more specifically—gay, lesbian, bisexual, straight leaders have believed in the spirit and benevolence of ICOAA enough to aspire to the titles of the throne.

Candidates for Emperor and Empress 39 of All Alaska are Kevin Fawcett-Majors for Emperor and MariQuita for Empress.

Voters must be at least 18 years of age and must show their Alaska state driver license or Alaska state ID. Active military personnel must show valid military ID.

ANCHORAGE

Time/date: Saturday, August 20, 9 AM to 8 PM
Location: Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Anchorage (GLCCA), 336 East 5th Avenue, Anchorage (see map)

UAA community: If ya’ll would like to go over to the GLCCA and vote for the next Emperor and Empress of All Alaska meet Amber at the Student Union at 1 PM. Those without cars will catch a ride and if you have a vehicle you are more than welcome to hop on the Gay Train. Further info on Amber’s Facebook event page.
