Alaska Pride Week 2011 events
Pride Week begins on Friday and there’s something for everyone! Here is the full schedule of June Pride events in Anchorage. (Check Alaska Pride for updates and new events added after this post.)
Saturday June 25th
11am – Celebrating Diversity Parade with Grand Marshall Doug Frank, from 6th & D Streets to L & 10th Streets along the designated route in downtown Anchorage.
12noon – 5pm – Festival with emcees Dave Curtis of Beat Roots Alaska and Kimberly “Kimtagious” Mendez of KFAT, on the Delaney Parkstrip memorial block (I thru L Streets.)
2011 Official Alaska PrideFest Events
Saturday June 18th
10am – 6pm – Identity booth at the Downtown Market and Festival. PrideFest t-shirts, rainbow merchandise, raffle tickets, and PrideFest information will be available.
3pm – 4pm – PINK DOT! Alaska Pride supports The Freedom to Love. Just show up at Town Square in your pinkest wear. This is an opportunity for everyone who supports our GLBT community to “step up, step out” and show their love! Put on your pink and join the dot.
7pm – ICOAA 2011-2012 MGA Pageant. Stepdown of current Mr. Gay Alaska, Tim Minnick, and Miss Gay Alaska, Destiny Diamonds, and crowning of new Mr., Mister, Ms. and Miss Gay Alaska. $10 at the door, at Mad Myrna’s.
Sunday June 19th

11am – Annual LGBT Pride Memorial Service @ the Pride Memorial, Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery (6th and Fairbanks St, enter off Fairbanks St or 9th Avenue, NE corner.)
4pm – Kick-Off BBQ at The Raven. Free.
Wednesday June 22nd
8pm – 10pm – Lube Wrestling at The Raven with the Last Frontier Men’s Club. Live auction to win the chance to lube up our contestants! All proceeds will go to the Gay & Lesbian Community Center.
Thursday June 23rd
6pm – 10pm – NE2.0 Presenters Potluck at The Raven. Meet and mingle with the presenters for NE2.0 and dance to the tunes of DJ Allie. Bring your Alaskan themed dishes!
7pm – Drag Queen Bingo (door opens at 6:30pm.) This year we are taking it to the streets – 4th Ave between K and L will be blocked off for all the fabulous festivities. Join Daphne, Ashley, and the men of AMP for this Four A’s annual fundraiser. Don’t be a drag, just be a queen, dress up and join in the fun – Bingo, door prizes, auctions, and of course the annual Drag Off. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from Snow City Cafe. Admission is $15.00. This is an all ages event.
Saturday June 25th
9pm – Kristara Live and In the Raw (door opens at 8pm.) Mad Myrna’s Show lounge. $10 at the door. Includes auction to benefit Gay & Lesbian Community Center/Alaska Pride.
Sunday June 26th
4pm – Wind-up BBQ at Mad Myra’s. Myrna is providing the “fixins” including salads. Bring your meat or veggie burger for the grill.

All Day – Pride Month Display in the Southeast Lobby of the Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse. Sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Saturday June 18th
7pm – Pride Movie Screening: Role/Play – Out North Theater, 3800 Debarr Rd.
Monday June 20th
5:30pm – Pride Movie Screening: “The Top Twins: Untouchable Girls” at Bear Tooth Theatre Pub.
7:45pm – Pride Movie Screening: “Making the Boys” at Bear Tooth Theatre Pub.
Tuesday June 21st
6pm – Anchorage Front Runners – Westchester Lagoon, Far West Parking Lot, corner of W. 15th and U St. (running every Tuesday night throughout the summer.)
Wednesday June 22st
6:45pm – 7:45pm – Zumba Party Celebrating Alaska Pride at Mad Myrna’s. La Zumba Diva Duo-Missy & Teresa “We Keep The Fun in Fitness” $6 drop in fee.
Friday June 24th
7:30pm – Pride Week Shabbat Service at Congregation Beth Sholom, 7525 E. Northern Lights Blvd. CBS invites members of the LGBT Community to join us for Shabbat services during Pride Week.
