Prepare for Takei Pride Month!

It's OK to be Takei!Maybe you’ve heard of the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill being considered in Tennessee. SB49, sponsored by Tennessee state senator Stacey Campbell, would prohibit teachers in the Volunteer State from discussing homosexuality in classrooms below the ninth-grade level.

Yes, it’s stupid. We know. So does actor George Takei. But with characteristic grace and humor, Takei — a happily married gay man known best for his role as Lt. Hikaru Sulu on the original Star Trek series and several Star Trek movies — has generously offered a replacement term for the oh-so-very-difficult-for-some-people word gay: his own last name!

Watch the video.  And then head on over to itsoktobetakei.com to stock up on your own Takei Pride merchandise (all profits will go to charity).  After all, Takei Pride Month is just a couple of weeks away!

Let’s just see them try to pray away the Takei! (Or, for that matter, Rapture away from it, either!)

Coming up on Bent Alaska

We’ll be updating you in the next couple of days on some of the events coming up in advance of Pride Month in Alaska. Not to mention Pride itself! Stay tuned….
