Growing Alaska’s LGBTQ non-profits and students
Tiffany McClain is coming to events in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau this month to talk about Pride Foundation and the good work they’re doing to fund LGBTQ non-profits and students in Alaska.
You get a taste of what she wants to talk about by reading her blog posts as the Alaska Organizer for Pride Foundation. She interviews donors, describes grant-funded projects, highlights raffle winning organizations, and explains the goals of Pride Foundation in Alaska. Her newest post is “Volunteers make our world go round!”
“On March 26, five Alaskan volunteers met to decide which candidates for the Pride Foundation-Alaska scholarship fund will move on to the interview phase of our selection process. This year marks the first year that we’ve had a full committee of Alaskans participating in this part of the cycle! The committee is made up of men and women, straight and gay, from Douglas in the southeast to Bethel in the southwest, from long-time residents to brand new Alaskans, to those who have been involved with Pride Foundation for decades to those who are just learning about who we are.”
Pride Foundation provides funding for several of Alaska’s LGBTQ non-profits, including Identity Inc. and Four A’s.
Tiffany is traveling around Alaska to meet with community leaders, run mini-raffles, and look for more volunteers.
“I’ll be headed to Fairbanks and Juneau at the end of the month for Meet & Greets, a house party, and to attend the Juneau Pride Chorus concert, which Pride Foundation is sponsoring.”
