“Inlaws & Outlaws” by Seattle filmmaker Drew Emery is showing at UAA this Friday at 7:00 PM.

“Inlaws & Outlaws” weaves together the true stories of couples and singles — both gay and straight — into a collective narrative that is as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.

At the top of the film, you meet real people one on one. You don’t know who’s gay or straight or who’s with whom. As their stories unfold and stereotypes fall by the wayside, you won’t care because you’ll be rooting for everybody. With candor, good humor, great music and real heart, “Inlaws & Outlaws” gets past all the rhetoric to embrace what we have in common: We love.

University of Alaska Anchorage is hosting a free community screening of the film this Friday at 7:00 PM at Rasmuson Hall, Room 101.  Following the film, filmmaker Drew Emery will join the audience for a Q&A and discussion.  Emery will also be visiting select UAA classes the previous day.

The event is co-presented by Alaska Airlines through its Office of Diversity & Inclusion. which is also sponsoring filmmaker Drew Emery’s visit to campus, per the film’s website:

This event marks Inlaws & Outlaws’ 437th community screening of the Hearts + Minds Campaign — and its premiere screening in Alaska.
